Violent felon sent back to prison for dealing drugs while on parole
NORWICH – A 29-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a high-level felony for selling cocaine in the City of Norwich while he was still on parole.
On June 30, the New York State Division of Parole and the Norwich City Police searched the home of Kevin J. Dunmire at 29 Court St., Apartment 1B.
After searching the residence, police discovered seven packages of individually wrapped crack cocaine hidden inside a mattress, 7.1 grams of psychedelic mushrooms and several smaller quantities of other illicit substances, including ecstasy pills, additional smaller amounts of powdered cocaine, prescription anxiety medication Alprazolam and marijuana.
District Attorney Joseph A. McBride said Dunmire was already on parole after he had pleaded guilty to first degree attempted burglary, a class C felony, and was sentenced to three years in state prison in 2004.
One of the conditions for parolees in New York State requires them to submit to searches of their residence without a warrant or prior notification.
