Originally from Cloudcroft, New Mexico, Cox is a singer, writer, guitarist, and especially a storyteller. Cox’s songs are like him, they’re eclectic, funny, touching, insightful and compelling. Come and be enchanted by Ronny’s charisma; his laid back, Southwestern folk sound will put a smile on your face and make you feel good inside.
For over 35 years, Ronny Cox has had a very successful acting career portraying a diverse range of characters. You may recognize him from movies like “Total Recall,” “Robocop” and in the sci-fi TV series “Stargate SG-1.” In his first film, he was the guitarist in the famous “dueling banjos” scene in “Deliverance.” His acting career spans over a 125 films and television shows, but you may not know that he’s an accomplished musician, writing songs that reflect an easygoing approach to life sparked with the ups and downs we all encounter.
Cox grew up in New Mexico listening to Texas Swing tunes, but then played rock & roll in high school, and was eventually drawn to folk music after graduating from college. His focus for many years has been acting, but a few years ago he come back full circle to his first love, his musical roots, and has been very successful since. To date, he has released five CDs – a varied mixture of jazz, folk and western tunes.
