Carbon policy

If government keeps pursuing its carbon policy it could backfire. That is because sooner or later an awkward little item will emerge. If it gets publicized it will embarrass the carbon sleuths.
Now you know carbon dioxide has become a villain. The EPA has classified it as poisonous. This is clearly a political move.
The EPA was ordered to do this for a simple reason. Governments want to tax firms that emit carbon dioxide. They want to tax all carbon-based fuels. And all that.
Governments simply want to collect more money. They are desperate for money. Their desperation comes from their spending, of course.
They are like addicts who run short of booze or drugs. In desperation they will say and do ridiculous things. Worrying about carbon dioxide falls into the classification of desperate.
But Tom, Tom, carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas! Evil! Greenhouse gasses are responsible for global warming and, omigod, climate change!
That we even have global warming is debatable, of course. Thermometers around the world have not co-operated for over a decade.
What is more awkward is this:  You have read and heard the scare stories about the greenhouse gasses. Tell me, what proportion of the entire atmosphere is composed of what the scare monkeys call greenhouse gasses?  Take a stab.
The answer is 2 percent.
Yes, only 2 percent of the atmosphere contains these evil greenhouse gasses. But wait. What portion of that 2 percent comes from carbon dioxide?
Less than .04 percent.
Hard to believe, isn’t it?  Do you know how small .04 percent of 2 percent is? We are talking miniscule.
This is the same as taking two pennies from a dollar. And then chipping an invisible sliver of copper from one of the pennies.
But wait. The evil carbon dioxide grows smaller yet, in a sense.
As tiny as it is, within the atmosphere, what portion of it comes from human activities?
The answer is only 3.4 percent.
Yes, 3.4 percent of .04 percent of 2 percent. That is similar to scratching the invisible sliver of copper we chipped from one of the pennies. The scratching is equivalent to the impact human-made carbon dioxide makes in our atmosphere.
Do you seriously believe that the 3.4 percent of the .04 percent of the 2 percent we contribute to the atmosphere affects our climate? If you do, you should worry about scratching that penny. A few more scratches and we will endanger the world’s supply of copper.
Speaking of which, this carbon dioxide issue is only about the copper. And the gold and silver. Along with the dollars. All of which government dreams of milking from you and your economy.
