Hospice of Chenango County unveils new agency website
NORWICH – Following months of hard work, Hospice of Chenango County is ready to invite web browsers to their new site at www.hospicechenango.org.
“While we want to maintain the hometown personal feel of Hospice that is so appreciated by our patients and families,” said Patricia Outhouse, Hospice’s Executive Director, “we also realize that the information age is rapidly changing, and our goal was to create a website where people could access information about us in an easy, user friendly way.
Outhouse says the agency’s website “is meant to be a living, breathing site that will be frequently updated to contain current information both about our agency and the work of Hospices on the state and national levels.” Web visitors will learn how to make a referral, explore the possibility of becoming a Hospice Volunteer, and even have the opportunity to purchase flowers online during the agency’s Spring Plant Sale. Teams can also register for the Hospice Golf Tournament in memory of Mary Jane Prindle which is slated for Friday, June 25, or sign up to participate in the Dan Elwood 5K Run/Walk for Hospice in Bainbridge on May 29.
Another page on the site dispels many common myths associated with Hospice, such as – only cancer patients can enroll. This is definitely NOT TRUE. Currently more than 50% of Hospice patients in Chenango County have a diagnosis other than cancer.
Development & Community Relations Coordinator Donna Wood-Craig, who also worked on the website, invites the public to explore the world of Hospice via their computers. “I encourage everyone to share our web address with their circle of friends, neighbors, and family members. If you have a question about Hospice you can email our clinical staff, request a call from our Social Worker or Chaplain, learn about Volunteer Training Sessions, and find out when and where our grief support groups meet.”
Most importantly, Hospice hopes their site will become the go-to place for concise and accurate information when life forces you or a loved one to consider end-of-life care. Information about Hospice is now only one click away at www.hospicechenango.org.
