9th annual Allegro Run for the Arts in memory of Brian Rex Conant
NORWICH – The Chenango County Council of the Arts is now accepting registrations for its annual 5K fundraising run, “The Allegro Run for the Arts.” This year’s run is being dedicated to the memory of Brian Rex Conant, the winner of the first Allegro in 2002. It was a race he dedicated to his father, Rex Conant, who was gravely ill with cancer at the time. The plaque on the perpetual Allegro trophy housed at the Arts Council is inscribed “Brian Rex Conant” at Brian’s request, so he and his father would share that win forever.
The race begins at the Council of the Arts, 27 West Main Street, Norwich at 9 am. on Saturday, May 1. Race day registrations will be accepted from 8 until 8:45 a.m. Entry fees for each race are $15 up until race day and $20 the day of the race. Students will pay $10 both pre registration and day of the race. Teams are encouraged! Each runner will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
The Allegro Run for the Arts’ major sponsor is NBT Bank. Additional support has been provided by Laral Management, Rapid Reproductions, Norwich Pharmaceuticals, The Mid-York Press, Wheaties FUEL, Runners World, Lee & Emerson, Attorneys, Sidney Federal Credit Union, Electron Coil, Excellus Health Plan and Visions Federal Credit Union. Media sponsors for the event are The Evening Sun and the Norwich/Sidney Pennysaver.
