CAZENOVIA – Norwich won 12 of 17 events, and beat Cazenovia in a non-league meet Thursday afternoon.
Norwich, who did not win a dual meet last season, received four total victories from junior Morgan Crawford. Crawford was a winner in the 200-meter dash (25.0), triple jump (38-11), and teamed on two winning relays.
"This was a nice starting point for us, especially after not winning a meet last season," said Norwich coach Paul Sims. "Our goal is to win the division championship, and we'll have to win every dual meet to do it."
Patrick Taylor took the long jump (20-feet even) and 100-meter dash (11.9), Jon Foulds won the high jump (5-8) and 400-meter hurdles (1:05.7), and single wins came from Matt Murray (400 meters, 54.7), Mike Reilly (110-meter hurdles, 16.4), and Damien Marvin (discus, 101 feet even).
On the girls' side, Sarah Bonnell won the 100-meter dash in a career-low 12.7, Cleo Daoud took the 400-meter dash (1:02.6), while Elisha Eddy won the shot put (28-3) and Shannon Curley the discus (78-2). Bonnell, Daoud, Eddy, and Katie Benenati captured the 400-meter relay as well in 51.8.
Among the relays, Tony Loscavio, Sean Gagnon, Ian Weaver, and Darrel Humphrey won the 3,200-meters in 9:51.2; Murray, Taylor, Crawford, and Nate Ashton won the 400-meter relay in 47.1; and Ashton, Marvin, Crawford, and Murray placed first in the 1,600-meter relay clocking 4:08.3.
Norwich competes in the B-G/Afton Spring Invitational Saturday at Bainbridge-Guilford High School. The meet starts at 10 a.m.

New school record for Oxford
WALTON – At Walton Thursday afternoon, Oxford junior Katie Woodford set a new Midstate Athletic Conference record in the 100-meter dash in a three-way meet that included Afton/B-G and the host Warriors.
Woodford, a state champion last year in the 400-meter dash, clocked 12.4 seconds to break a 20-year-old record originally established in the Susquenango Association, the precursor to the MAC. Woodford was pushed by twin sister Emily, who was second in 12.6 seconds.
"They've (the Woodfords) worked hard on their starting blocks, and they feel great coming out," said Oxford coach Irene DeJager. "We decided to put them in the same event to push each other. It was a beautiful day, and we had a lot of personal-bests."
Emily Woodford set a new school record winning the triple jump with a leap of 34-feet-5-inches. The two Woodfords also teamed with Amanda Marks and Jessica Russo to capture the 400-meter relay in 51.3.

Boys' Tennis

Walton 3, B-G 2
WALTON – Walton's first doubles team of Justin DiJulio and Walter Bartlett outlasted the B-G duo of Kyle Werth and Dylan Whaley in three sets to give the Warriors closely-contested victory on Thursday.
B-G earned its two team points at first and second singles. Lennart Seidel improved to 5-0 on the season at first singles, and Michael Mertz was a straight sets victor.
B-G (3-2) is at Sidney Monday.

Oxford 238, Walton 290
DELHI – Oxford evened its record on the season at 1-1 winning at Walton Thursday on Delhi University’s par-36 front nine.
Cory Seiler paced the Blackhawks with a 39, easily the low score of the day. Haley Witchella also broke 50 for Oxford shooting a 47.
The Blackhawks travel to Morris on Monday.
