Norwich PTSA plans Meet the Candidates Night
NORWICH – Even though individuals who are interested in vying for the three vacancies on the Norwich City School District’s board of education have until April 28 to submit their petitions, the Parent Teacher Student Association is already organizing an event which will give community members a chance to learn more about their choices.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, the PTSA will host its annual Meet the Candidates Night in Room 1 at the Norwich High School. The event will give each potential board member the chance to respond to questions related to their candidacy and issues faced by the district. Last year, District Attorney Joseph McBride moderated the session.
According to President Victoria Mitchell, the PTSA is reaching out to school staff and community members for their assistance in forming the questions which will be asked of each candidate.
“We want to try to put together a few great questions that staff and community might want to ask,” Mitchell explained. The goal, she said, is to develop a number of well-balanced questions to pose to each candidate. The time allotted for each question, as well as the number of questions asked during the session, will depend on the number of candidates running for the board seats.
Anyone interested in suggesting a specific question, or topic, should contact Mitchell by phone at 373-0297 or via email at vamitchell73@yahoo.com.
