OXFORD – Oxford scored in every inning, banged out a season-best 11 hits, and took advantage of nearly every scoring opportunity in Tuesday’s non-league victory over McGraw.
Kyle Ferrington pitched five innings striking out nine for his second win of the season.
Jamie Smolcnop hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and was 2-for-2. Ryan Moore reached base safely five times with a 2-for-2 day at the plate, three base on balls, two RBI, and two runs scored. Ferrington added two hits and two runs scored for Oxford (2-7).
McGraw’s pitchers issue nine walks, and combined with seven errors, two hit batsmen, and the 11 hits, the Blackhawks had 29 baserunners. “We took advantage of that, and our kids hit the ball well from the start,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer.
