The Invasion

So Arizona is doing something about the invasion of folks from Mexico and Central America. And the laws they plan to enforce have enraged a lot of people.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are among those who protest the new law. San Francisco leaders want to encourage boycotts of Arizona tourism and products. And all that.
Interesting, isn’t it?  Sharpton and Jackson are perpetual opportunists. They will exploit anything that will get them before TV cameras.
Their main complaint is that Arizona police may do some racial profiling when they enforce the law. That is a complaint most people can understand. None of us would like to be profiled.
And yet, Sharpton and Jackson love and support racial profiling. When it comes to getting kids into college, they do. When it comes to getting their supporters into police forces and fire departments, they do. When it comes to collecting various benefits from government, they do. They insist on racial profiling for these things.
Ah well, maybe they forgot.
As for the law itself, there is one aspect the debaters seem to ignore. That is the matter of protecting the citizens of the United States. That is one of the duties assigned to our federal government. You will find it in our constitution.
Most folks think of this as military defense. I see it also as protecting our people from invasion.
Millions of foreigners have snuck into this country without permission. If you don’t call this invasion, I have to wonder what you would call it.
Arizona figures there are half a million illegals who live below the radar in that state alone. Clearly, the federal government is not doing its job.
Well, they’re just regular folks, Tom. Not really. Many are fugitives from serious crime. Many deal in drugs big time. They flock to the lawless gangs that rampage through Lost Angeles. (Not a typo.) Huge numbers tap into benefits from state, local and federal governments. Paid for by citizens and those who live here legally.
There are those who believe the illegals have a right to be here. For them, a few questions:  Should we allow in 100 million of them? Or a few hundred million Chinese?  If not, why not? Don’t they also have a right to be here?
And should Americans be allowed to sneak into other countries by the millions? And once there, be allowed to collect various benefits paid for by their taxpayers?
Try sneaking into any other country. In Mexico it will land you in jail for a few years.
The President and crew have a problem with this, of course. On the one hand, they want to be seen – to be seen – to be responding to our border problem. On the other hand they want to be seen by many of their supporters as being lax on border problems. And on the other hand, they don’t want to be seen to be caving in to the conservatives.
Yes, that adds up to three hands. One to deal with issues. One to distract you. One to fleece you.
The administration now says it will fly predator drones above the border. You might hope they will be there to reveal where hordes are sneaking into the U.S. So that our guys might catch them.
Nah. My guess is their footage will be used to show how our guys abused the illegals. So that the illegals can sue us. We are always the bad guys.
