Carnrike appointed deputy county clerk
NORWICH – Chenango County Clerk Mary Weidman has announced the appointment of George Carnrike Jr. as deputy county clerk, effective May 5. Carnrike will replace Ronald Siok, who retired as deputy and supervisor of the Motor Vehicle Unit.
A native of Norwich and graduate of Norwich High School, George attended Broome Community College. After graduation he worked for Victory Markets, managed the Webb & Sons store in New Berlin and served as General Manager and then President of Kemper Associates. In 1992, he started Carnrike Construction, a well-known commercial and residential contracting company.
Carnrike served as City of Norwich Ward 1 Alderman for seven years. He was a member of the personnel, finance and public safety committees as well as served on the City of Norwich Water Board. Carnrike has been an active volunteer in the community for Norwich Gus Maker Tournaments and is the play-by-play announcer for Norwich School Tornado Football, Norwich Cyclone Pop Warner and Milford Academy games.
County Clerk Weidman says, “George brings a strong work ethic, community involvement and management skills to the position which are strengths that are important in my office. Our goal has always been to provide the most efficient, friendly service to our public and we look forward to George joining the staff.”
