SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville won its first Center State Conference division game of the season banging out 17 hits in Friday’s victory over Mount Markham.
Jobie Gates was a perfect 4-for-4 with a two-run double in the fourth. Carter Cole went 3-for-4, and winning pitcher Mike Wilson drove in two runs.
“We had some good timely hitting today,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks, who praised winning pitcher Wilson. “This was a big win for Mike. He kept the ball down, and had a lot of ground-ball outs.”
Corey Musician went 2-for-2 for S-E, and Jake Bohnert had two hits and one RBI.

OXFORD – Derrick Head pitched six strong innings in his best outing of the season, and Oxford finished out the week with back-to-back victories.
Jamie Smolcnop and Andrew Golden were each hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Oxford’s first two runs in the second, and a third run was added with a walk.
Oxford built the lead to as many as eight runs scoring five runs in the fourth. Adam Pierson capped that inning lacing a two-run single. “We played really good defense tonight behind Derrick,” said Oxford coach Chris Palmer, whose club raised its record to 5-10. “The difference tonight was that we were catching the ball, and our pitchers limited their walks. I have been pleased with the way we’ve play in all but two out of the last 21 innings.”
Kyle Ferrington had two runs scored for Oxford, and Head finished with six strikeouts.
Travis Cammer had three hits for Deposit.

NORWICH – Norwich opened with six runs in the opening inning, and held that lead the rest of the way to earn a STAC Central Division win on Friday afternoon.
Mackay Hotaling started the scoring with a two-run single, Kyle Cashman drove in two with a single, and Casey Edwards along with Josh Borfitz added single ribbies to chase CV starter Ricky Ruffo.
Josh Whaley pitched into the sixth inning for Norwich to grab the win, and Hotaling closed out the game for the save. “It was a good victory for us, and Josh did a good job holding (Chenango Valley) down until the sixth inning,” said Norwich coach John Martinson.
Borfitz went 2-for-3 to lead NHS.
Norwich plays at Seton Catholic Central today.

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away from Edmeston in a non-league victory Friday.
Dylan Webb had a two-run triple, and Ian Davis had an RBI triple during the inning. “It was good to finish the week with a win,” said UV coach Tom Locke. “We have another five games, and we talked about where we want to be at the end of the year. This was a start, and we wanted this (win).”
Brandon Miles was 3-for-4 with four runs scored, and Zach Montgomery had three hits and four RBI to lead the UV attack.
Blake Vibbard drove in two runs for Edmeston.

AFTON – Afton remained in division title contention, and moved its overall record to 6-6 on the season beating B-G on Friday.
Adam Rupakus allowed just five hits and struck out 14 to pick up the victory. Corey Mohrein drove in two runs in the fourth for the go-ahead runs.
“It’s been a battle back (to .500),” said Afton coach Ron Rapp. “If we can get through next week and beat some of the bigger schools, those will be some big sectional numbers.”
Eric Oefelein had an RBI single in the first to give B-G the early lead.

GREENE – Greene’s early offense paid off. The Trojans took a 3-0 lead after two innings, and pulled out their 12th win this season to clinch at least a tie for the MAC Division One title.
“It was a tough game, and I was a little nervous about it because I know Walton has good athletes,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “They have a good pitcher, and their hitters hit Becca (Hanrahan) better than anyone we’ve faced.”
Louise Holcomb scored Greene’s initial run in the first with a single, and a passed ball scored the second run. In the second inning, Caitlin Willis’ single scored Rachel Turner for the three-run advantage.

NORWICH – Chenango Valley continued its mastery of the Purple Tornado as Taylor Hendrickson allowed just one hit in six innings for the defending Section IV, Class B champions.
“They are be far the best hitting team we’ve seen, and pitching wise, they may be the best there, too,” said Norwich coach Dennis Eaton. “We played Sus Valley tough twice and played Windsor well. I think CV has our number this year. They’re a very good team and well coached.”
Brianna Stinson had a two-run triple in the second to drive in two runs, and Taylor Stupski followed that with an RBI triple.

Tori Roberts collected two hits and drove in two runs for Mount Markham as well, and Jamie Lincourt scattered four hits to pick up the victory. “We made good contact at the plate, but we hit the ball right at them and they made all of the routine plays,” said S-E coach Michelle Parker. “Their hitters did a good job hitting it up the middle and taking advantage when they had runners on base. We left runners in scoring position and didn’t finish.”
Allison Hicks was 2-for-4 to lead S-E.

OXFORD – Oxford (8-5) finished off a perfect 3-0 week rallying three times to defeat the Lumberjacks on Friday.
Deposit took the lead for the last time in the top of the sixth on Tiffany Raymond’s solo home run.
Malorey Muzzy started Oxford’s last comeback reaching on a bunt single. Muzzy would score two batters later on a throwing error, and Lacey Barry’s single scored two runs to put Oxford ahead for good.
Barry finished with three RBI on two hits, Alyshia Crawford was 3-for-4, while Muzzy and Kayla Parks had 2-for-3 days. Oxford plays at Bainbridge-Guilford today.

NEW BERLIN – Joe Burgin shot a 39 for Delhi to win overall medalist honors as the Bulldogs edged UV by one shot at Riverbend Golf Club Friday.
Thomas Wallace had a 41 to pace a balanced UV lineup. Colin Izard and Ryan Jacobs came in with 43s, Mike Schowe notched a 45, and Jesse Thomas carded a 46.
UV’s record dropped to 2-5 on the season.

Brian Carson and Rife Revoir rallied from a first-set loss to take the final point for the Tornado.
Eli Craig won at first singles for the Tornado taking his win in dominating fashion, 6-4, 6-1. Colin Stewart and Alexander Stewart won a three-setter at first doubles, and Matt Craig paired with Sal Cole for a straight sets victory at second doubles. “It’s our second win, and it feels good,” said Norwich coach John Stewart. “Eli had a great win at number one. He played well and beat a kid he should beat.”
Craig, down 4-1 in the opening set, won 11 of the final 12 games for the victory. Last Thursday, Norwich fell to STAC Central Division champion Maine-Endwell, 7-0.
