BINGHAMTON – Christian Hotaling had his best all-around game this season, and Norwich won back-to-back games for the first time this spring.
Hotaling went 3-for-4 with three RBI, and he pitched a complete-game victory striking out 10, walking one, and giving up two unearned runs. “Christian had his curveball working today, and he just had a tremendous day on the mound and at the plate,” said Norwich coach John Martinson. “We’re kind of putting the pieces of the puzzle together. It’s late in the year, but this shows we’re making improvements.”
Hotaling put Norwich on the board with an RBI single in the first to score Paddy Law, and Richie Bonney’s single plated Hotaling. Hotaling contributed a two-run single in the fifth scoring Mackey Hotaling and Josh Borfitz.
Norwich (3-7) plays at Owego Wednesday.

SAUQUOIT – Sauquoit Valley started the game with back-to-back five-run innings, and never looked back in Monday’s romp over the Marauders.
Nick Critelli and Josh Jarecki had four hits for SV, who had 22 hits on the day. “They do a very good job of putting a bat on the ball,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks of the Indians. “They didn’t try to do too much, and when our pitchers got behind in the count, they just hammered the ball.”
Carter Cole, Mike Wilson, and Joe Moses all had two hits for S-E, who play at Waterville Wednesday.

“We just didn’t play well in the field at all today,” said OV coach Dave Loomis, whose club finished with eight errors. “The pitching was okay and we hit the ball, we just made too many mistakes and got too far behind.”

DELHI – Ben Cairns reached base in the bottom of the eighth with his third hit of the game, and Delhi was able to score a pinch runner for Cairns after a Greene error to win in eight innings Monday.
The Trojans (7-8) had their best offensive game in two weeks, and led 6-0 at the outset. “We did some really good things offensively, we had some clutch hitting, and I’m really pleased with that part of the game,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton.
On the flip side, Delhi’s first three hitters of the game reached on walks, and all three scored. Overall, seven Bulldogs batters who drew walks eventually scored, while J.J. Darling added a three-run homer to tie the game in the sixth finishing with five RBI.
Scott Gorton had two hits and three RBI for Greene, and Jeff Carlin, Nate Patrick, and Nic Puglisi all finished with two hits.
Greene plays at Walton today.

DELHI – Rebecca Hanrahan threw her fourth no-hitter this season, and was a second-inning walk away from throwing a perfect game as the Trojans clinched their second straight MAC division title on Monday.
Hanrahan had 11 strikeouts and was 3-for-4 at the plate with a homer and two RBI. Brittany Youngs went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. Delhi aided the Greene cause making eight errors.
“We were hitting the ball on the ground and forcing them to make plays,” said Greene coach Rick Smith. “The errors added to the run production.”

ONEONTA – Oneonta scored three in the first and five in the third to defeat the Tornado on Monday.
The Yellowjackets started their run-scoring rallies in each inning with two outs and no runners on base, said NHS coach Dennis Eaton. “We had a good start to both of those innings, and couldn’t close the deal,” Eaton said. “More than anything, we were unfocused at the start of this game. After the third inning, we played very well.”
Norwich scored its lone run in the fifth when Shelby Condon homered over the leftfield fence. Condon was 2-for-3 on the day as was her teammate Jamie Berger.
Norwich plays at Owego Wednesday.

NORWICH – Chenango Valley’s Steve Yurenda won a tight first singles battle, and the Warriors also escaped with a three-set tiebreaker victory at second doubles to defeat the Purple Tornado netters on Monday.
Yurenda took each set against Norwich’s Eli Craig, 7-6, 7-6, while at second doubles, Mark Gryskevicz and Greg SantaCroce were winners over Nate Perry and Sal Cole, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Norwich seventh-graders Colin Stewart and Alexander Stewart did not give up a game winning 6-0, 6-0, and third doubles partners Brian Carson and Rife Revoir were impressive in winning, 6-1, 6-3.
Norwich hosts Oneonta today.

Rob McLean, playing at third singles, reversed his loss to B-G’s Luke Winn from earlier this season, a match in which B-G ended Sidney’s 70-match-plus winning streak. At first doubles, the Warriors’ Joe Morris and Tom O’Halloran also overturned an earlier defeat.
B-G’s lone win came from undefeated Lennart Seidel, who moved to 11-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Josh Edwards.
B-G (8-3) hosts Walton on Wednesday.

NEW BERLIN – Oxford shot a season-low score at Riverbend Golf Club, and remained unbeaten against division competition with a victory over Unadilla Valley Monday.
Cory Seiler shot a 2-over-par 36 to pace the Blackhawks, while Chris Marks and Dan Dey turned in 41s. The victory completes a 6-0 division record for the Blackhawks, who also met the cut-off score to qualify for the team sectionals tournament later this month.
UV also posted its season-low score behind a 39 from Thomas Wallace, a 41 fromTaylor Anderson, and a 42 by Ryan Jacobs.
Unadilla Valley hosts Edmeston today.
