B-GA sweeps by Oxford, Greene
Track and Field
BAINBRIDGE – B-GA’s boys remained unbeaten in local meet competition winning all but three events, and the Bears’ ladies pulled away from Greene taking each of the field events to complete the sweep on Wednesday.
B-GA’s boys spread around the victories with Russell Darling the lone boy to win two individual events. Darling nailed down firsts in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles.
On the girls’ side, Karla Paul took the triple jump and high jump spearheading the Bears’ dominance in the field.
Oxford’s Katie Woodford won the 100- and 400-meter dashes, Emily Woodford won the 200-meter dash, the the Blackhawks were winners in the 400-meter relay.

Canastota sweeps at S-E
SHERBURNE – Canastota swept the boys’ and girls’ competitions in a four-way meet hosted by Sherburne-Earlville Wednesday.
Kristi Vibbard came away a double winner for the S-E girls, who polled 46 points. Vibbard swept the shot put (28-2) and discus (72-0).
On the boys’ side, S-E racked up 69 points to place second led by two individual wins from Dakota Nelson. Nelson was first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.1), and tied for first in the pole vault (9-0).

WATERVILLE – Sherburne-Earlville kept its postseason aspirations alive defeating Waterville in eight innings on Wednesday.
Jobie Gage reached on an infield single in the eighth, and moved to third on two passed balls. Matt Piazzi’s second RBI single of the game scored Gage with the winner.
“We had a couple of clutch hits today, and our goal now is to win our last two league games,” said S-E coach Brian Hicks.
Piazzi tied the game in the sixth scoring Corey Musician with a single. Joe Moses had a two-run single in the first for the Marauders, and Moses went the distance for the victory striking out 14 and scattering seven hits.

AFTON – Adam Rupakus went the distance for Afton, who evened its record on the season edging Walton on Wednesday.
Paul Hamilton doubled in Corey Mohrein to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth, and Hamilton came in with the winning run on Josh Akshar’s single to right field. “It was nice to win because we’ve lost a lot of one-run games this season,” said Afton coach Ron Rapp. “Adam pitched out of some tough situations, and our defense stepped up and made some good plays.”
Dan Bowker was 3-for-3 on the Walton side.
