Train of Fools arriving at 6 On The Square Saturday

OXFORD – The “express” is rolling into 6 On The Square (6OTS) Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m. band Train of Fools is the internationally well known, Kevin McKrell. The McKrell name speaks volumes; you don’t want to miss this Train!
Kevin has been working the regional, national and international music scene for many years. For nearly three decades he’s been in the music business. He’s been a member of several musical incarnations: Donnybrook Fair, The Fabulous Newports, Hard Times, and of course, The McKrells. Kevin is known for his rousing Celtic songs, traditional and those he has written, and he’s put his own touch on each group he has performed with. This time the musical genre is described as “Celtic Cowboy” - Celtic with an original kick.
The only way to describe Celtic Cowboy is to think of a fusion of old style American country cowboy music with the music of the Celts. This folk roots sound is blended, and reborn thru original tunes, as well as a sampling of traditional tunes from both sides of the Atlantic.
Train of Fools includes Kevin on guitar, bodhran and vocals; (daughter) Katie McKrell - bodhran and vocals; Seth Warden - guitar and vocals; Doug Moody - fiddle, vocal and mandolin; and percussionist Brian Melick. Doug Moody’s fiddle playing provides a show stopping complement to the original and traditional tunes. Brian is an accomplished percussionist, and his banter with the band members and the audience always keeps people laughing.
Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $12, until the day of the show; $15 at the door on the day of the show. Students, under age 18, are always $2. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Don’t miss these future performances: Vance Gilbert on June 12th and Friday, June 18, Bill Staines will appear as a benefit for Chenango County Habitat for Humanity. Shows are at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30. Visit the website at www.6onthesquare.org for tickets and future event information.
In addition to these performances, 6 On The Square is currently featuring a photography exhibit by Norwich artist, Kathy Coates until June 2nd.
Have a talent? Singers, poetry readers, musicians...the next “Open Mic Night” is May 20th (and every third Thursday of each month), at 7:30 p.m. Come to perform or come to listen; it’s always free admission.
