Three vie for two spots on Oxford’s village board, no contest for justice

OXFORD – Registered voters in the Village of Oxford will take to the polls on Tuesday, June 15. Two seats on the board of trustees as well as the village justice position are up for grabs this year in the Village of Oxford election.
Incumbent Trustees Laura L. Begeal and Dale B. Leach are both running for re-election.
Begeal, a Democrat, is seeking her eight consecutive two-year term on the board. She has been Deputy Mayor since 2004.
Leach, a Republican, is seeking his fourth consecutive elected term. He was initially appointed to the board in 2003 and first sought election to the office the following year. He served previously terms on the board, from 1975-1979.
Also running on the Republican line on June 15, is challenger Hilary M. Wilcox of Oxford.
Incumbent Democrat Charles K. Race is running unopposed for an additional 4-year term as village justice. Race, who has served in the position since 1992, was a trustee for seven years prior to being elected as justice. If re-elected, it would mark his fifth term in his current office.
Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15 at the Village of Oxford Fire Department.
