Hancock 12, G-MU 6

HANCOCK – Cody Wellman blasted a grand slam in the second inning as Hancock shot past G-MU, and eliminated the Raiders from the Section IV, Class D playoffs Wednesday

Wellman singled and scored in the first inning following an errant pickoff throw, and he capped an uprising in the second that began with two outs and no runners on base. “We were able to come right back in the second inning, and it looked good after getting the first two outs,” said G-MU coach Jim Johnson.

Rocco Christian started the rally with a single. A walk and a fielder’s choice led to Tom Bannicky’s RBI single. Wellman put his club in the lead, and finished his day 2-for-2 with two walks, four RBI, and two runs scored.
