‘Gus Busters’ to receive attractive gift package this year
NORWICH – Norwich Gus Macker tournament organizers are asking a lot of their volunteers this year, and in return, "Gus Busters" will receive their most attractive gift package ever.
Longtime tournament director, Tom Revoir of the Norwich YMCA, said he is looking for 75 “Gus Busters” to cover the estimated 32 courts for the 15th annual basketball tourney slated the weekend of July 10-11.
“We want Busters to commit to a full weekend this year,” Revoir said. ‘They’ll receive the normal stuff from Macker, but they’ll also get some really nice stuff from Eastbay.”
Eastbay is one of the premier suppliers of sports apparel in the country, and local organizers have purchased golf shirts, a warm-up suit, a duffle bag, and three-pocket shorts for volunteers. Revoir said that the entire package handed out to volunteers retails for around $200, and is available for men and women.
Anywhere from two to three volunteers will cover each court as referees or monitors/scorekeepers throughout the two-day event. It’s a depth of coverage that will allow for several breaks, Revoir said. Revoir did emphasize that only the first 75 people to register as a Buster will receive the gift package, and over half of those slots are already filled.
