UV wins 2nd straight Pony League game

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley scored all of its runs in the fifth inning to improve to 2-0 in Otsenango Pony League play on Thursday.
Brett Smith tossed a one-hit shutout for the winners striking out seven and walking just two. He gave up a lone infield single to CV-S’s Justin Monahan in the third, and the UV defense did not commit an error.
Dakota Kolvik had a two-run single in the fifth and was the lone UV player with two hits. Chris Emerson and Josh Rutherford added RBI singles as UV had four of its six basehits in the inning. UV (2-0) plays Milford on Tuesday.

Bainbridge 9, Edmeston 5
BAINBRIDGE – Corbin Palmer went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBI as Bainbridge toppled Edmeston in Otsenango Pony League action Thursday.
Tyler Ouimet hit a two-run, two-out single down the right field line in the fifth to expand the Braves’ lead to 7-3. Josh Austin pitched six innings striking out six Edmeston batters for the victory.
Norwich 8, Greene 2
GREENE – Norwich pitcher Justin Lindenthaler allowed four hits in a route-going effort as Norwich improved its Pony League record to 2-0.
Lindethaler took a shutout into the seventh inning as he registered 12 strikeouts and walked just three.
Robbie Wheeler led Norwich with a 3-for-3 day at the plate and two runs scored. Cameron Prime had two hits and two runs scored, and Cody Barnes doubled driving in a pair of runs.
