Funke scholarships awarded

The Chenango County Council of the Arts hosted the 2010 award ceremony for the Lucy Tower Funke Scholarships Wednesday evening in Norwich. The annual awards, given to local students pursuing an education in the arts, are named in honor of longtime Arts Council Director Lucy Funke, who was on hand to distribute the scholarships. Pictured with Funke, bottom left, are scholarship winners Ashlee Wlasiuk of Bainbridge-Guilford, Kasey Heisler of Greene, Ashley Nichols of Oxford and Amber Kida of Oxford, who earned a special award given in memory of late Oxford Academy graduate Scott Franco. Back row: Christopher Kappel of Norwich, Matthew Jones of Unadilla Valley, Shakira Reynolds of Afton and Leah Schmitt of Sherburne-Earlville.
