Act UP Theater Camp kids Perform at the Palace Theater

HAMILTON – The curtain is open and the stage is set for the 2nd annual Act UP, Youth Theater Camp production. On Saturday, July 10 at 7 p.m., kids who have been acting up at the Act UP Theater Camp at the Palace Theater will perform two original one-acts. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. to the public and tickets are available for only $3 per person or $10 per family of four or more. Following the performance audience members can meet the cast at the Act UP cast party.
The ultimate goal was the creation of a short one-act inspired by a quote from Dr. Seuss – Bump Thump Thump Bump. “The campers have an amazing imagination with tons of creativity and talent. They have choreographed dance moves and fight scenes, written songs ... they’re incredible and we are so glad to have shared this time with them.” Says Patricia von Mechow, Director of the Palace Theater. The one-acts are filled with excitement, mystery, friendship, and scary moments.
Due to its popularity, the Act UP camp offered two one-week sessions for kids 6-16 years of age. Some campers will run the light and sound cues, while others perform and become stage crew, but all the kids are involved in every aspect of a live theater production. Campers have learned the basic fundamentals of live theater including creating the storyline, character development, blocking, positioning and voice projection, set, light and sound design, costuming, and props.
Act UP campers include Christian Andrzejek, Harrison DuBois, Emma Dudrick, Hope Early, Audrey and Hannah Farrell, Israel and Thokozani Fuller, Georgina Godfrey, Ben Gorton, Franny McCabe, Marie Moren, Alex Tefft, Ifty Abdal-Ghaffar, Wil Eberhardt, Ben and Sam Evans, Acadia Gilchrist, Lin Henke, Ella Kenyon, Lexi Lapp, Tim Mansfield, Jamie and Ryan Nagle, Jordyn Paul, Rose Porta, Angel Sheeley, Ryanne Solinsky, Annalyn St. Ledger, Phoebe Tisdale, Phoebe Tompkins, Kayleigh Wentworth, and Sam Williams.
Come and meet the future stars of stage and screen! For more information about the 4th season of live national acts presented at The Palace Theater in 2010-2011, visit www.palacetheater.org or call (315)824-1420.
