NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department is urging Norwich residents to lock their cars, garages, and doors as they search for a wanted parolee who fled from officers twice on Thursday.

Police are looking for Gary L Nichols Jr. , 30, of Norwich, after the New York State Division of Parole reported he violated the terms of his release and issued a warrant for his arrest.

According to their web site, Nichols was convicted of third degree burglary and attempted burglary for crimes committed in Chenango County. He was released from prison on June 26, 2009.

At least some of the charges involved Nichols breaking into a residence.
