Award-winning Bluegrass comes to EOH

EARLVILLE – The Claire Lynch Band brings award-winning bluegrass to the historic Opera House main stage on Saturda at 8 p.m.  “Claire Lynch, without doubt, has one of the most beautiful voices in the music business.”  She is backed up by a red-hot band that sparkles with virtuoso musicianship!  The Claire Lynch Band is generously sponsored by Stickley, Audi & Co and by media sponsor WCNY TV & Classic FM.
It is difficult to find this many award winning musicians sharing a van together on the road! All this talent and they still get along! Claire Lynch has won the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Female Vocalist of the Year and received two Grammy nominations for Best Bluegrass Album. Jason Thomas has won the Canadian Open Mandolin Championship and Florida State Championship on both fiddle and mandolin. Matt Wingate garnered the title of MerleFest Doc Watson Guitar Champion; and Mark Schatz has two IBMA Bass Player of the Year awards.
“A sterling, silvery vocal presence and a gift for supple, emotional ornamentation ... Lynch’s talent is a diamond...gorgeous voice and sense of purpose, supported by (a) superb ensemble.”  The Washington Post.
“Claire ‘s musical direction dates back to the days of the Front Porch String Band. It’s a down-home, front porch sensibility-until you realize that it’s a rare front porch, indeed, that has ever hosted musicians of this caliber. Jason Thomas brings monster chops on fiddle and mandolin, supported by remarkable musical versatility and imagination. The band is grounded by bassist Mark Schatz’s deft touch and masterful instinct for groove. And Matt Wingate is a remarkably soulful young gun whose mature improvisational musicality is seemingly far beyond his years.”
Don’t miss an evening of virtuoso bluegrass musicianship with The Claire Lynch Band on Saturday.  Admission is $18 and $16 for EOH members and students are discounted to $13. Premium seating in the first 4 rows is an added $5. The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift.
Don’t forget to visit our Artisan’s Gift Shop and EOH Arts Café!  The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well. For more information, or to reserve your seats, call 315-691-3550 or order online at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com.  The Opera House is located at 18 East Main Street, in Earlville.
Earlville Opera House events are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State Agency, and through the generosity of Earlville Opera House members.
