Oxford 1 win from clinching playoff spot

Oxford 13, Edmeston 3
OXFORD – Oxford scored all of its runs in the first two innings – on just four hits – to keep its Otsenango Pony League playoff hopes alive.
For the second straight game, Richard Ryan finished with a pair of hits. Ryan had a double and two RBI to pace Oxford. Cameron Heggie and Joe Nelson, Oxford’s one and two hitters, reached base safely a combined six times scoring two runs apiece. Andrew Golden picked up the victory, and Justin Schray pitched in relief as the two hurlers held Edmeston to four hits.
Oxford can clinch second place – and a playoff spot – with a victory over Greene on Monday.

Unadilla Valley II 16, Sidney II 11
SIDNEY – Unadilla Valley II scored five runs in the top of the sixth, and held Sidney scoreless as the game was called after six innings due to darkness in the Otsenango Pony League Thursday.
Andrew Radke was 2-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored for UV, and Eric Voorhis had three runs scored and one RBI. Brendan Booker pitched the last inning for UV to earn the save, and Voorhis picked up the victory.
UV II can clinch a playoff spot in Division D with a win at Cobleskill Monday.

Unadilla Valley I 10, Cooperstown 1
COOPERSTOWN – Unadilla Valley I finished the regular season 9-0 in Otsenango Pony League play defeating Cooperstown on Thursday.
Brett Smith picked up the victory striking out nine and giving up just two hits. Smith was also 4-for-5 with a double and a triple. Kurt Haycook and Brandon Kuhn had two hits apiece, and Kerry Smith delivered a timely two-run single.

Norwich 15, Sherburne 5
NORWICH – Norwich finished Otsenango Pony League play with a 10-0 mark beating defending league champion Sherburne for the second time this season.
Norwich starter Cody Barnes pitched three scoreless innings striking out four as Norwich built a 5-1 advantage.
At the plate, Colby Griffin was 4-for-5 with four RBI including a triple to lead Norwich. Brendan McInerney finished 3-for-4 with four ribbies as well, and Justin Lindenthaler had three hits in four triples to the plate.
Zach Sampson had two RBI for Sherburne in the loss.
