Norwich campus offers first orientation session

NORWICH – The Norwich branch of Morrisville State College will hold the first of two orientation sessions for new and returning students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Roger W. Follett Hall, 20 Conkey Ave.

The purpose of the sessions, according to Norwich Campus Academic Advisor Nancy Heiss, is to “help students get familiar with the campus and campus services so they are more comfortable when classes begin.”

During the orientation, incoming students will be paired with others with whom they will be sharing classes during the upcoming fall semester, a move designed to “help students get to know each other” and make the transition from the summer break mentality to an academic mindset “as smooth as possible,” said Heiss.

Students will also complete a few administrative tasks, she added, taking their math placement tests, setting up their school e-mail and having their photo taken for their student identification cards, a requirement for those wishing to utilize book vouchers this semester.
