Local athletes compete at ESG

Katie and Emily Woodford of Oxford, Lindsay Delello of Sidney, and Erin Carney of Newfield represented the Central Region in track and field at Empire State Games held in Buffalo July 21-25.  The four girls, all Section IV athletes, ran together on a 1600m relay team.  The team placed 4th with a time of 4:06, just edged out for a bronze medal by Hudson Valley with a time of 4:05.93.  Delello placed second in the 400m hurdles, and Katie Woodford placed second in the 400m dash with each earning silver medals.  From the left are Katie Woodford, Emily Woodford, Delello, and Carney. More results from the ESG will appear in a later edition of The Evening Sun. (Submitted Photo)
