Sue Foley & Peter Karp Band on stage at EOH Saturday
EARLVILLE – In tough times, the Blues are a national resource for fighting our troubles with creativity, humor and good times. One band that is fighting the blues with the blues this summer is the Sue Foley & Peter Karp Band who bring their “He Said/ She Said” tour to the historic Opera House main stage on Saturday, Aug. 7 at 8 p.m. Their 4-piece electric band will rock the blues! Sue Foley and Peter Karp’s He Said/She Said concert is generously sponsored by Dr. William Graber and by media sponsor WAER-FM.
“He Said/ She Said” is an extraordinarily romantic Blues show that is a collaboration of two of Blues’ gifted talents Sue Foley and Peter Karp. He Said-She Said came together when the two began sharing letters and eventually progressed into their new collaborative CD on Blind Pig Records. HE is Peter Karp, a master songsmith with an art for spinning true-to-life emotions, humor, and candor. SHE is Sue Foley, considered to be one of the finest blues/roots artists working today with a Juno (Canadian Grammy) under her belt for her recent CD Love Coming Down.
The music encompasses elements of folk, flamenco, and blues, resulting in a show that is moving, literate, romantic, rocking and exciting. “But their strong point is the smart, sassy, sexy interplay around the “He Said She Said” theme, and the songs from this intelligent and inventive concept album that revolves around the relationship between the sexes.
Songs like “Treat Me Right,” “Rules of Engagement,” “Mm Hmm,” “Scared,” “Valentine’s Day” and “Dear Girl.” They range from tender to tough to the downright sensual of “Mm Hmm,” with lyrics like “Wouldn’t it be nice/to once or twice or even thrice/pick up where we left off to resume/Throwing each other around a room/Mm Hmm....” I throw that in not to overemphasize, but just to emphasize that this is not your moon/June/croon kind of music.” Jim White for Blue Notes, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Admission is $18 and $16 for EOH members and students are discounted to $13. (Note: this is an EOH member special event - details are outlined online). Premium seating in the first 4 rows is an added $5. The EOH Theater is wheelchair-accessible with a ramp and a lift.

The café is always open before the performance and during intermission, and serves tasty desserts, refreshing summer drink classics, and hot coffee/tea as well.
