Local realtor celebrates 20 years in business
NORWICH – Early this summer Chenango County Realty celebrated 20 years of serving home buyers and sellers both inside and out of Chenango County, and owner Dave Thomas said he’s proud to have served the hundreds of customers who have walked through his doors in the past two decades.
A licensed broker since 1986, Thomas first opened for business on June 10, 1990, and has been at his current location, 5449 State Route 12 South, Norwich, since 2004.
Thomas, who stated he’d employed “approximately 20 salespersons over the years,” currently has five full-time sellers working under him, covering Chenango, Otsego, Delaware and Madison counties.
“We always strive for hands-on services and once the paperwork is signed, we don’t disappear,” said Thomas. “We always remain in contact with both buyers and sellers throughout the transaction.”
Such attention to detail has been a key to his success through the years, and due to the smaller size of local communities, Thomas said he’s developed some “extremely personal” relations within his customer base and is “very comfortable with all involved,” including the bankers, attorneys and other real estate agents he works with.
“While it’s always nice working in the smaller communities, it’s also nice bringing people in from other areas and introducing them to the Chenango County way of life,” he added.
As a long-time member of Commerce Chenango, Thomas said he has “always remained involved in the community and community organizations” over the past two decades, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Norwich Family YMCA and, as a cancer survivor himself, the Chenango Relay For Life.
He is also a member of the American Legion Riders, for whom he “does a lot of charity work.”
“Chenango County is very fortunate to have many small businesses that help to drive our economy,” stated Commerce Chenango President and CEO Maureen Carpenter. “They contribute in a quiet way, but are valuable to what makes our county special. Reaching 20 years in business is quite an accomplishment and Dave’s ability to bring attention and visitors to our community is something that we all can appreciate.”
