Former Oneonta physician now seeing patients in Sidney

SIDNEY – Dr. Michael Trevisani, Vice President Medical Affairs at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital, has announced that Cheli Sainez, MD, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital’s Women’s Health Center practice, is now seeing patients at UHS Primary Care in Sidney as well.
Dr. Trevisani stated, “Dr. Sainez is a great addition to our women’s services program We are happy to have her practicing at the Women’s Health Center and at our Sidney practice. This arrangement enables us to offer women’s health care that is convenient to new patients from the Sidney area and Dr. Sainez’s former patients from her Oneonta practice as well.”
Dr. Sainez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree at Medical College of Pennsylvania - Hahnemann University (Drexel University School of Medicine) in Philadelphia, Pa. She attended a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, N.J., an affiliate of University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and completed her training as chief resident, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Bronx, an affiliate of Weil Medical College of Cornell University. She has practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in Rochester, Rome and most recently at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, and is Board Eligible in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
Dr. Sainez is a general obstetrics and gynecology provider with a special interest in adolescent/teen pregnancy and gynecologic care, contraceptive care including sterility options, infertility treatment, and preventive care for gynecologic cancers. She is an advocate for access to women’s health care for those who live in Central New York. She said she is happy to be practicing at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and appreciates living in Central New York, where she has served as a provider since 2007. “I love the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the nearby towns, the ability to really get to know patients of all ages, and to see the growing babies of women whom I have delivered when I am out in the community.” In addition to traveling to new places, Dr. Sainez enjoys the outdoor activities available locally, especially kayaking. She welcomes and encourages both prior and new patients to schedule a visit for their obstetrical and gynecologic health care needs.
