Perkins dancers earn honors at national competition
NORWICH – Dancers representing the Amber Perkins School of the Arts of Norwich and Vestal won grand prize championship awards at two national competitions held in Orlando, Fla. last month.
A group of seven dancers competed in the Can Dance and American Dance Awards annual events over a two and a half week period in mid July, performing solos for title, duos and small group modern routines.
Robin Wonka of Oxford placed second in her solo and took first place and the overall Can Dance competition cash prize for “Parce Mihi Domine,” a duo choreographed by Amber Perkins and performed with partner, Blake Zelisknar of Johnson City.
Studio owner and principal teacher/choreographer Amber Perkins won Can Dance’s Choreographer of the Year award for 2010.
