27th Annual Wrench Wranch Bluegrass Roundup set to kick off

COVENTRYVILLE – The 27th Annual Wrench Wranch Bluegrass Roundup will kick off at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Wrench Wranch, Route 206, Coventryville, with a traditional pot luck supper and a variety of open stage performances.

The yearly event, which typically draws approximately 1,000 bluegrass fans from across the northeast throughout the weekend, has become a ritual celebration of all things bluegrass, according to festival organizer Ted Wrench.

Friday’s festivities will include an auction, tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m., a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. and musical performances by “Doc” Weismore and the Ridge Road Ramblers and the Cannonball Express Reunion, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Wrench said while Friday night’s performances lean more toward the country side, with round and square dancing throughout the evening, there will be plenty of bluegrass for festival-goers on Saturday and Sunday.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, those in attendance will have the opportunity to experience some of the area’s best in local and regional bluegrass, with appearances by Cedar Ridge, Cannonball Bluegrass, C&T Bluegrass, the Lonesome Road Ramblers, Shawn Batho & Corey Zink and the Wrench Ramblers.

Headlining Saturday evening will be the Pennsylvania-based Remington Ryde, who, in May of 2010, released “Grandpa Was My Guide,” the group’s third full-length album.
