Plymouth hosts inaugural Community Day

PLYMOUTH – The Town of Plymouth will hold its first-ever Community Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Plymouth Fire Hall, 3461 Route 23. The event is an opportunity for local residents to meet with community leaders and support groups.

According to Community Day Chair Linda Powell-Owens, Community Day was first discussed among congregants of the Plymouth Methodist Church as a way to thank community members for their donations and try to bring residents together for a town picnic.

Through several brainstorming sessions, the event grew from there into a “meet and greet with town officials and local organizations,” said Powell-Owens, including the United Methodist Church, Volunteer Fire Department, Post Office, Old Mill Christian Life Fellowship, Plymouth Historical Society and Plymouth Watershed.

“This being our first Community Day, there’s no telling how many people to expect, but our goal is to bring the town together,” said Powell-Owens. “So far there’s been a lot of support and interest and we’re hoping to develop this further in the future as a community.”
