Greene at its best against Windsor

WINDSOR – Just two games into the season, Greene coach Sue Carlin was quick to praise the amount of improvement in her team since its first scrimmage three weeks ago. “Today was the best that we’ve played as far as scrimmages and our two games,” Carlin said. “We passed it well, we saw the open player, and people were cutting and receiving.”
Greene received all the scoring it would need when Andrea Day tallied off a pass from Jahna Driscoll, and senior midfielder Abbey Wentlent followed in her own shot after a penalty corner to put away the game’s second tally for the 2-0 halftime lead.
Three of Greene’s four goals came off penalty corners with Emily Conroe and Driscoll finding the Windsor cage in the second half. “We executed really well in the circle tonight,” Carlin said. “They were making the extra pass, and it made a big difference.”
Greene (2-0) plays at Oxford tonight at 7 p.m.

Making some on-the-fly adjustments, Greene scored three times in the first half to take the lead. Alex Driscoll had the opening goal, Corey Dietrich the go-ahead goal, and Driscoll made it a two-goal advantage. Driscoll had the second-half goal to complete his second straight hat trick.
“Delhi has had that knack to score early, and we’ve had to adjust to what they were doing,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “They were overloading one side. We made the adjustment to defend tha,t and then put ourselves in position to counter...and it worked.”
It was just the second game for Greene, who had a week layoff between contests.
