S-E falls twice, Greene stays unbeaten

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville played to a scoreless tie with Herkimer in the consolation game of the S-E Tournament, then fell to the Magicians in a penalty stroke tiebreaker Saturday afternoon.
Tori Scialdo scored the winner for Herkimer after S-E goalie Katherine Robertson made saves on the first two penalty stroke attempts.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, who won the tournament championship, 3-0 over Ilion, advanced to the finals with a 2-0 win over the Marauders. Ashley Palmer and Alexis Kavanugh scored in the second half for the winning team.
The Marauders host New York Mills on Tuesday.

OXFORD – Jahna Driscoll, Brandee Schoonmaker, and Emily Gascon all had two goals for Greene (3-0), who posted their third straight shutout of the season at Oxford Friday.
Driscoll had the game’s opening two goals to give her seven on the season. Schoonmaker’s first goal came after a tight crossing pass from Andrea Day. One of Gascon’s goals was also a rocket of a crossing pass, again sent in by Day.
“Give Oxford credit, they played hard until the final whistle,” said Greene coach Sue Carlin. “I can see the skill is there, they’re just a young team.”
Emily Conroe and Kaitlyn Bryce added goals for the Trojans, who host Hancock on Thursday.
