Former Greene soccer player wins weekly college award

DALLAS, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer players Janae Averett and Troi Jorgensen were named Heartland Conference Players of the Week. Averett picked up offensive honors, while Jorgensen was named the defensive player of the week.
Averett, a senior from Round Rock, Texas, helped lead the Hilltoppers to a 2-0 week. On Friday, Averett tallied her second career hat trick in a 3-1 victory at Central Oklahoma. On Sunday, Averett assisted on the game-winning goal against No. 20-ranked Midwestern State. She has three goals and one assist in just two matches played this season.
Averett lived in Greene until her junior season and played varsity soccer for former varsity head coach Randy Smith.
