DVD Patrol

We’re Falling at the Patrol, people! The DVD Patrol gang has been enjoying the nice fall weather and your man doing some skydiving, the Toddster, has been pretty busy with DVDs and seeing some movies to wrap up the summer with a special review column in the next few weeks. What do you say we take a look and see what’s falling into place this time around. Geronimo!!

New on DVD

Robin Hood - We’ve all seen heroes that come back from time to time. Even familiar ones. Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe team up for this latest outing of the famous bowman. Taking a look at the legend behind the story, Robin of Locksley (Crowe) returns from the crusades fighting for King Richard the Lion Hearted. However, when Robin returns home, he finds out that things are a lot different than when he left. When he meets Maid Marion (Cate Blanchett), she informs him of how bad things have really gotten. So Robin takes up the guise of Robin Hood who takes from the Rich and gives to the poor. He also becomes quite the thorn in the side of the Sheriff of Nottingham who works for King John (Danny Huston). Will Robin make a difference to the people who need his help? Scott is currently working on a new “Aliens” sequel that’s in the works and Crowe has a new thriller hitting theaters playing a husband whose wife has been accused of murder and now the only way to save her is to break her out of jail in “The Next Three Days” set for release Nov. 19.

Human Target - No one deserves to die. That’s what Christopher Chance (Mark Valley) believes. Season 1 is here as we join our hero. In the pilot episode, Chance has been hired by a beautiful designer (Tricia Helfer) whose life has been threatened. The only way to flush out the killer is to take a ride on the new 200 MPH bullet train running from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Assisting Chance in his fight are his partners Winston (Chi McBride) and the ever mysterious Guerero (Jackie Earle Haley). To make matters even worse, the killer has sabotaged the train’s brakes and now it won’t stop. Is Chance going to flush him out before they crash? One of our picks for the new fall TV season. Season 2 starts on Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Also on DVD

Two and a Half Men - It’s usually hard to get someone to change their ways. Charlie Harper happens to be one those guys. Charlie always liked to party a lot and loved to romance the ladies. His lifestyle is about to change when his brother Alan (Jon Cryer) comes to live with him and Alan’s son Jake comes to stay on weekends. In the Season 7 opener, Charlie is torn between his new fiancée Chelsea and his former love Mia. Also, Alan’s new girlfriend has moved into the house. What will Charlie do next? Seasons 1-6 are now available in stores and Season 8 can now be seen on CBS at 9 p.m. on Mondays.

Fringe - Life usually has it’s own kind of weirdness. No one told FBI Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) it would be this weird. Olivia always gets the paranormal cases and the only one that can help her is Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) but the only way to control him is through his son Peter (Joshua Jackson). During the Season 2 opener, sometimes partners have trust issues. Olivia returns from a visit to an alternate reality where things are different and the same at the same time and Peter tries to help her. Walter tries to do something nice for Peter’s birthday but things don’t go exactly as planned. Is there a threat on the horizon for the team? Season 1 is in stores now with Season 3 airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.

Castle - Police can get help from different sources. How about a mystery writer? Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) had everything going for him until someone decided to use his methods for killing. That’s where he met Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). Definitely not your typical crimefighting team. In the Season 2 opener, things have been a bit tense between Castle and Beckett. He’s still trying to figure out how to wrap up his new book. Maybe a new case is what the doctor ordered. Their latest case finds a man who has been found killed with a tree? How will they solve this one? Season 1 is available now and Season 3 airing Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC.

It’s time to land for this go around. Before we go, next week a certain golden avenger, a caped crusader, and a man of steel will return to the Patrol. The Toddster was even able to get a sneak peek at a new movie that will be featured right here. To find out what’s going on, join us right here. The Toddster will be back!
