The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged students discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be. The students learn skills in relationships, teamwork, finance, fundraising, budgeting and project management, all while building a competition robot. Colleges and universities nationwide, such as Clarkson and R.I.T, recognize F.I.R.S.T students with many types of scholarships in the science, engineering and technology fields.

The FIRST TR-X 145 Robotics Team will be showing the 30 minute original educational documentary, Assembly Required, produced by WSKG Public Broadcasting in 2010. Assembly Required documents the journey of local robotics teams, including Team 145, as they progress to the FIRST Robotics Regional Competition held in Rochester, New York.
