Greene 93, Susquehanna Valley 89
GREENE – Greene placed first and third in the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, to pull out a close win over Susquehanna Valley Tuesday night.
It was the second win for the Trojans (4-5) over Sus Valley this season, although this meet was much tighter. “We needed to take first to win the meet, and we won handily, but I still worried about DQs (disqualifications) and we had some girls out sick,” said Greene coach Mike Platta. “We had to make adjustments before the meet and during the meet.”
Greene’s Jenny Yeager, Deanna Bay, Moriah McCauley, and Jessica Brooks won the last event by 20 seconds, and Greene’s third-place team easily claimed the necessary points for victory by a 32-second margin.
“We’re continuing to drop times, and our goal is to peak at the end of the season,” Platta said. “Right now, we’re following that road map to our best times.”
Yeager, Brooks, and Shelby Stoppkotte also found the victory column in individual events. Overall, Greene won seven of 12 events.
