A first place finish for the Purple Tornado Marching Band

NORWICH – The 60 members of the NHS Purple Tornado Marching Band earned their first top finish of the 2010 New York State Field Band Competition last weekend in Auburn, following a second place finish a week prior in Oswego.
Norwich edged out East Irondequoit in the Small School 1 division by a overall score of 79.90 to 79.40.
“Everyone’s really happy with the performance, including the students, and we’ve managed to do very well so far,” said NHS Marching Band Director Lansing Dimon. “They’re doing well, retaining well from rehearsal to rehearsal and we’ve been able to pick up where we left off from previous rehearsals. Things are running pretty smoothly I would say.”
The Purple Tornado Marching Band will perform at approximately 7:26 p.m. on Saturday in New Hartford.
