Local seniors win medals
ROCHESTER – Four area seniors competed in the National Senior Games Championships last weekend, and all came home with at least one gold medal.
Henry Carpenter, Norwich, competing in the 65-69 men’s division had two golds and one silver medal. He was first in mixed doubles with his wife Bonnie, won in singles, and was second in men’s doubles.
Bonnie Carpenter, Norwich, matched the performance of her husband with two golds and a silver. In addition to her gold medal in mixed doubles, she was first in women’s doubles (60-64 age group) with Barb LoPiccolo, and second in women’s singles (65-69).
LoPiccolo, Norwich, added a silver medal in the 60-64 mixed doubles competition teaming with Tom Helfrich of Duanesburg.
Betsy Almeter, Norwich, playing in the 50-54 age group, won a gold medal in women’s doubles pairing up with Laurie Holdridge of Binghamton.
