Go purple on Wednesday to shine light on domestic violence

Catholic Charities is asking that community members and local businesses “go purple” on Wednesday, as part of the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence ‘Shine the Light on Domestic Violence’ initiative.
Residents, businesses and their employees are urged to wear purple clothing, fingernail polish, jewelry or ribbons in support of the statewide initiative, aimed at the promotion of domestic violence awareness and the services available to those impacted by domestic violence.
“As a domestic violence assistance program we are participating in this important event,” said Catholic Charities’ Crime Victims Program Director Daniel Auwarter, who added he hoped the community will “help us in making a statement about domestic violence” in Chenango County.
