Young Marauders don pink for breast cancer awareness
To recognize breast cancer awareness month, members of the Sherburne youth football junior and senior teams donned pink socks for games. “The kids wanted to do it, and everyone knows someone who has had to fight cancer,” said Sherburne youth football president, Robert Campbell. “The kids saw that the NFL players were doing it, so they asked why couldn’t they do it. I think it’s going to be a tradition now.” In addition to showing their public awareness for a serious disease, the Marauders’ three teams are excelling on the gridiron in the Oneonta League. The senior Marauders (top photo) are 5-0, while the two junior Marauders teams (combined in bottom photo) are 5-0 and 4-0 respectively.
