Commerce Chenango hosts inaugural Space Walk

NORWICH – Commerce Chenango – in collaboration with the City of Norwich, the downtown Business Improvement District and the Norwich Merchants’ Association – will hold its first-ever Space Walk from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

An opportunity for entrepreneurs, business owners, investors, real estate agents, developers and community members to tour a total of 15 vacant and available commercial properties located throughout the city, the Space Walk will kick off from the former Rite Aid building, at the intersection of North Broad and Mitchell Streets.

In addition, participants will have a chance to make new connections, brainstorm ideas for the future of the structures and information will be available on possible incentives and financial assistance.

The goals for Space Walk are multi-faceted, according to Commerce Chenango Economic Development and Business Information Specialist Jennifer Tavares.

“Some of these properties have been on the market a long time and there’s a lot of potential there,” stated Tavares. “Everything from relatively small office spaces to very large buildings, upwards of 60,000 square feet. There’s a little something for everyone to look at.”
