National Tea Party leaders to visit

NORWICH – Saturday will find national Tea Party Patriots Co-founders Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth-Martin making their first-ever visit to Chenango County, with the Nov. 2 elections just days away.
“We are at a very critical time in our land, especially as we approach this election,” stated local Tea Party Patriots coordinator Charles Resseguie. “My most heartfelt request is that our people would use common sense as their guide as they vote.”
Resseguie said he believed many local residents are concerned about the state of the country, and added he did not wish to persuade anyone toward any specific political party – he simply believes the country would be in much better shape if voters were to use some common sense.
“If you keep our country’s well being in mind, and not that of a political party’s view, you will come up with the answers America needs,” said Resseguie. “We all know that in our country we have freedom and one of those freedoms is the privilege to think for ourselves and make our own decisions.”
A registered Republican, Resseguie stated he’s an “American first,” something he found to be of critical importance. According to the local Tea Party Patriots coordinator, there are many issues of crucial importance to the country, including jobs, the economy, illegal immigrants and border safety, government spending, the federal bailouts and their effect on future generations and the new health care legislation.
“A lot of this is dismal and troubling but Americans can meet these challenges and over them. We will because that’s what we are, Americans,” said Resseguie, who added he hoped Americans throughout the county remember to vote on Tuesday.
The local Tea Party Patriots will meet with Meckler and Beth-Martin to discuss a number of issues concerning the self-described grass-roots organization from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Chenango County Grange Hall, at the intersection of County Route 32 and 32A.
