GREENE – The Greene Drift Riders Snowmobile Club will host its first Snow-Kick Off Saturday night at the Silo Restaurant in Coventry. According to the club’s president, Brian Davis, the event is a first for the group, and will serve as both a social gathering for current and prospective members and a fundraiser.
“All proceeds will go to our trail and grooming fund,” he explained.
The event will begin with a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner. Rounding out the evening with be a live musical performance by The LJ Gates Band.
“LJ Gates is going to be rocking the house,” said Davis.
There will also be raffle baskets, 50/50’s and plenty of door prizes, the Drift Riders president explained. Club apparel and maps will also be available for sale, and guests will have the opportunity to renew their membership.
“Hopefully we’ll gain a few (new) memberships, too,” he added.
According to Davis, the club was established in 1971. They groom and maintain some 28 miles of snowmobile trails stretching through the towns of Greene, Coventry, Smithville and McDonough from the vicinity of The Outpost to The Silo. He estimated that 98 percent of the trails maintained by the club are on private land.
