Senior artists honored at CMH reception

NORWICH – Residents at UHS Senior Living at Chenango Memorial who exhibited artwork in the recent art show titled “Still Creating II, the Artistry of Long Term Care Residents” at Chenango County Council of the Arts Mariea Brown Gallery were honored at a recent reception in the skilled nursing facility.
Eleven of the residents had their artwork included in the show: Charlotte Bronstein, Albert Dunham, Roseanne Ellis, Ethel B. Estes, Bernice Finch, Marilyn J. Honeyford, Elsie Madison, Verda Spencer, Barbara Thomas, Margaret G. Willcox, and Dorothy Sue Young. Fred McGarity, president of the Seniors Council, congratulated each participating artist and presented a certificate of participation, and residents were treated to a slide show of all of the exhibits in the show.
They also were able to admire the local artists’ work, which was displayed in the residents’ dining room. Those who viewed the show agreed that the artwork and creativity is inspirational.
As Mr. McGarity stated, “Creativity does not stop with age and indeed does not have to stop because one needs long term care.”
