Twelve Twenty-Four set to return for 3rd Annual Christmas Concert

NORWICH – The Norwich Firefighters Association will hold its 3rd Annual Christmas Concert and holiday celebration from 7 to 11 p.m., Dec. 18, at the Chenango County Council of the Arts.
The concert will once again feature Pennsylvania-based Twelve Twenty-Four, a 17-piece rock-n-roll orchestra inspired by the sounds of the famed Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Comprised of a four-piece string section, a six member rock band, five lead vocalists, a narrator and an angel, Twelve Twenty-Four will return to perform its unique blend of popular Christmas tunes with a rock edge and a concert feel for fans of all ages, according to the group’s website.
“This is definitely not your typical holiday band. It’s an excellent show, it’s very entertaining and it’s enjoyable for all ages,” said Norwich Firefighters Association member Mike Powell of the ensemble. “It’s an amazing production and it’s full of energy.”
Set-up for the yearly holiday concert requires the combined efforts of all 17 band members, a dedicated eight person road crew and members of the local firefighters association, said Powell, who added preparations for the performance typically begin around noon and continue throughout the afternoon and early evening.
According to guitarist Lenny Kucinski, nearly every Twelve Twenty-Four performance benefits a specific charity, including the Norwich Firefighters Association Christmas Concert, which has become a yearly tradition for the band.
“It’s just a great gig and they treat us so well. It’s a road trip we all look forward to,” said Kucinski. “All of the money that’s raised really makes it feel like we’re making a difference.”
This year, fans of the band will have an opportunity to take a little piece of Twelve Twenty-Four home with them. The group recently released its debut CD – Miracle on Rock Street – and a portion of all album sales will go to benefit the Earthly Angels Autism Fund, reported Kucinski.
Produced by a group of award-winning engineers whose credentials include stints with Madonna, the Rolling Stones and Peter Gabriel, the 10-song holiday album is a true showcase of the band members’ various talents and abilities, according to Kucinski.
“We’re all of us blessed to play with such fantastic musicians,” he added.
Tickets for the show are $20 and may be purchased online at www.norwichfirefighters.com or at the Norwich Fire Department. All proceeds will benefit the Norwich Firefighters Association. For more information on Twelve Twenty-Four, visit www.twelvetwentyfour.net.
