Five-year-old killed in Morris accident

MORRIS – At approximately 12:28 a.m. Wednesday, New York State Police in Oneonta responded to a one-car fatal accident that occurred on State Route 23 in the Town of Morris in Otsego County.
Jessica Palmatier, 28, South New Berlin, was westbound on Rt. 23 shortly after midnight when a deer entered the roadway. Police said Palmatier lost control of her vehicle and left the roadway, striking a tree. Emergency help was summoned and responded to the scene. A five-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital and pronounced deceased, troopers said. Palmatier, another adult and a second child were also transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The Morris Ambulance and South New Berlin Ambulance Squads assisted at scene.
The investigation is continuing.
