International Dance Company performs Deep Blue at Palace Theatre

HAMILTON – “When the lights go out and the iridescent characters appear, I lose my breath,” says Thomas Vecchio, Syracuse. “The black lights make the colorful costumes shimmer as the dancers perform.” Tom and his family have bought their tickets and are ready to be captivated by the soulful, tribal music and vibrant costumes for a one-of-a kind visually stunning performance.
Deep Blue, Saturday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m., blends nature’s elements through theatre and dance setting an enchanting stage. Experience Day, Night, The Lizard, The Birds, Air and The Phoenix in a magical world like no other. Vivid, mesmerizing costumes and intriguing illusions will have you asking, “Was that a dream?”
Archedream for HUMANKIND, an international touring dance theatre company, have a live guest appearance on Syracuse’s talk show, Bridge Street, WSYR, Channel 9, on Friday, Nov. 19, before the show on Saturday at The Palace Theater in Hamilton. Tapping into his African roots, founder Alan Bell creates tribal-influenced masks and hand-painted costumes, merging playful elements of tribal dance with the shocking glow of black-light reflective paint.
Tickets are $20 adults/$10 students with school ID or youth 18 & under, and are available by calling The Palace Theater. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and seating is general admission. After the show, the audience is welcome to meet the cast for autographs or keepsake photographs.
The season continues with Holy Cow, It’s Here, the Palace Holiday Show (Dec. 17 & 18), jazz pianist Dick Hyman (March 5, 2011) and Step Afrika (March 25 & 26, 2011). The Lorax (Jan. 29, 2011) and Winnie the Pooh (April 7, 2011) close the Family Series.
