DVD Patrol

Let’s get that turkey going, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is getting ready for our annual Turkey hunt and not just for Thanksgiving. Your all around hunter, the Toddster, has taken a break from planning the hunt to do what we do best. Some good ones and these aren’t turkeys either. Be very quiet because we hear something!

New on DVD

The Last Airbender - It can be a little stressful when you have to be the one to restore the peace. M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) is back as he brings the story of a young man trying to stop a war. Based on the classic cartoon, during a time in early history, the Earth is ruled by people who can control the four elements – Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Each group can control each of them and have lived in peace for years. A young man known only as the Avatar can control all four. However, while trying to find out how his powers work he passes away. Years later, the Fire benders are trying to take over the World so the other nations must band together to fight them. They come to find out that the Avatar is still alive and has been in a deep sleep. Now they need his help if they are to stop the war that is coming. Will the Avatar be able to help? The cartoon series “Avatar- The Last Airbender” can be found on DVD and can be seen daily on Nickelodeon.

Hunt To Kill - It’s been a while but Action Spotlight is back with an all new one from Steve Austin. Jim Rhodes (Austin) was a loyal Border Patrol agent and good at his job. He always made time for his family. Things are about to go wrong for him and the family when they are kidnapped by some criminals on the run. While passing through some remote mountains, Rhodes and his family are able to escape. He never really talked about what he did at his job but now they’re about to find out first hand. Will Rhodes be able to save his loved ones and stop the bad guys before it’s too late? The Toddster has some great suggestions from Austin including “The Condemned,” “Damage,” and “The Stranger.”

Also on DVD

Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore - There is the universal question that is always asked- “Are you a dog person or a cat person?” You want to be careful of the answer you give because our favorite canine crimefighters are back to save us from cats everywhere. The last time we saw Lou and the boys, they had to stop the cats at MEOW (I’m not making this up) from launching a formula that would make everyone allergic to dogs everywhere. Now in the sequel, Lou and his pals have to join forces with their enemies to stop Kitty Galore. Will they be able to get along before there is a catastrophe? Also, pick up “Cats and Dogs” on DVD now. Another great talking animal movie is the new “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” in theaters in December.

Lottery Ticket - Winning money can cause all kinds of craziness in a person’s life. Just ask Kevin (Bow Wow). Kevin lives with his grandma and they always go get their weekly lottery tickets like clockwork. Kevin’s ship comes in when he wins $370 million dollars. Now the trick is getting through the weekend because the lottery office doesn’t open until Monday so they can claim their money. All types of weird characters come out of the woodwork from women who want to marry him to crooks who want to take his ticket away from him. Can Kevin make it through and keep his money at the same time? Bow Wow has some other great movies including “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” “Like Mike,” and “Johnson Family Vacation” all available on DVD now.

Avatar - Let’s return to Pandora! The Toddster decided to bring back a Sci-Fi favorite as the new expanded edition comes to DVD. Avatar introduces us to Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he heads for the deepest reaches of Space to finish a job that his brother had started. Jake ends up headed for a planet called Pandora. Pandora is known to have a precious metal that can only be found there but they are having trouble with the aliens who live there. To blend in, the Company that Jake works for have grown alien bodies that can blend in with the people of the Navi.  Jake is able to put his mind inside this body and goes off alone. Later he meets one of the Navi named Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). As Jake gets to know Neytiri and the ways of her people, he comes to realize how wrong it is to keep doing what they’re doing. Jake sides with them and comes to fight for them. Can he find a way to stop the company and save the Navi? My sources tell me that Cameron is currently in the planning stages of filming the sequels with most of the cast returning. Stay tuned!!

Time to come in because the turkeys have stopped calling. Before we go, our team up is on the way and what could we have in store this time? All I can say is a certain secret agent is involved and to find out what’s happening, you’ll have to join us here next week. The Toddster is out of here!
