Pediatrics Department welcomes Dr. Tsay

NORWICH – Dr. Michael Trevisani, Vice President Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer,  announced that Theresia (Trish) Tsay, MD, has joined the pediatrics department at Chenango Memorial.
Dr. Tsay received her MD at St. George’s University School of Medicine, St. George’s, Grenada. She completed a pediatric residency at Long Island College Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, and had neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowships at State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY, and Tufts Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. Under a National Institutes of Health grant, Dr. Tsay completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Tufts Medical Center.
In a recent interview, Dr. Tsay said that she chose to specialize in pediatrics because “Kids give me pleasure. I enjoy interacting with them and seeing how they mature. It’s amazing! Over the years, you actually grow with them.” She said she wants not only to be their doctor, but to be their friend. Dr. Tsay, who moved to Chenango County from Long Island, said she has found that living in this community is exciting. “I can feel the life here. People are warm and caring and very accommodating. I like that and the peace and quiet.”  Sh appreciates the pace and quality of life. “Here you can slow down and establish one-to-one connections. Life is beautiful and here I have the opportunity to explore that experience. I feel happy here.”
Dr. Tsay said she looks forward to working with the health care team at Chenango Memorial and interacting with community members. Her special interests are newborn medicine; teaching new moms and expectant moms what to expect from newborns; and asthma prevention and treatment. Her research focused on asthma prevention and treatment and she has presented on this topic at national and international conferences.
Dr. Trevisani stated that Dr. Tsay’s background includes training in newborn ICU, “which brings a nice complement to our pediatrics and family care team.”  Dr. Tsay is seeing pediatric patients at UHS Primary Care Norwich, 4 Newton Avenue.
